And nothing, NOTHING planned as far as kid activities. :-)
Darling husband went to his parents to celebrate the retirement of a dear friend who was his hs music teacher, 35 years ago. This man is retiring, yet he's still young and hip. He is extremely gifted musically and helped dh put together a kickin' rock band when he (dh) was the chair of a national conference last year in Boston. The members were all Y professionals and amateur musicians, but they ROCKED. Really.
Anyway, Peter was also one of the groomsmen in our wedding 14 years ago, and a really good friend. I'm sorry I didn't go with him, but after last weekend (the youth group fast), and some work commitments this weekend - it feels really good not to have to travel.
Originally, the weekend was filled with hockey and baseball, but the schedules changed. I still am the deacon at church and darling daughter is the acolyte and number one son has confirmation class - so we do have conflicts. And cats. And an elderly dog, 2 mice and a fish. *Someone has to care for them, right?
Anyway, today I need to motivate the kids (crack the whip, bribe, connive, threaten) to do some yard work, do the housecleaning that I've been avoiding and get ready for the invasion of the in-laws next week. (I love them - dearly, I just always have a lot to do to bring the house up to a level of readiness suitable for company, which can be a little stressful)
Then we might go to the Lilac Festival - they have a cool crafts festival there and sometimes good bands. Dh went to see Marshall Tucker last week and 2 years ago I took the kids to see Teddy Geiger. ( I know, crazy - but he's a hometown sensation)
Last night number one son went to the movies with a friend and I took darling daughter to finally see "National Treasure". I LOVED it, what a great movie. :-) Tonight I'm planning to meet church families and youth at the Drive-In movies to see the latest Narnia movie. Should be fun, but cold.
Enjoy the day.
