Arggghhhh. Just one man, actually.
I have been shopping for low-salt, low-carb, low-potassium foods for the past 2 weeks.
Measuring EVERYTHING, counting carbs, figuring out insulin ratios, keeping track of meds, googling new recipes, stocking up on healthy snacks, staying AWAY FROM my favorite saucy, savory, salty, carb-y foods.
And chocolate.
No, I'm not a saint. Quite the opposite, actually.
But dammit, I'm trying.
And after 7 days in the hospital, and just 5 days at home, DH tells me, "I'm not really hungry".
This, after I made roast chicken (okay, honest - I bought it at Wegman's), peas, salad, and farfaille pasta with parmesan.
F-I-N-E.
This, after he sniped at me over the weekend about the importance of regular meal times to regulate his blood sugar and insulin levels.
So he says to me.....
"How about a little ice cream? Just to change things up a bit. I don't feel like chewing"
(Granted, it's no sugar added ice cream, BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT)
Chewing? WTF?
And he's bored ALREADY?
How the H%$$ can we change our diet to LIVE BY if he wants to cheat after 5 freakin' days? Mind you, last night he said the same thing and had cereal.
Ooohhhh, I'm so mad.

OK, in case you're not already aware...that low sugar ice cream? Small doses. TRUST ME!
And I'm sorry it's been so difficult lately....boys are dumb :(
Most nights, I'd rather have ice cream or cereal for dinner, too. But I'd eat the chicken. And I'd like it. And then I'd have some ice cream or cereal.
I'm sorry you're so frustrated. Ya know, there's no law saying *he can't plan and cook dinner!
No advice for you at all...but, I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this. It stinks! {{{HUGS}}} and hopes that better days are just ahead!
big ((hug)) - its oficial here in my house, yes Men ARE stoopid!! can't live with em, can't shoot em so just blog about them til you feel better.
I'm sorry Kristin. I know my mom has been dealing with this for a few years now. I have no good advice either.
time for my recipe for Cat Food Casserole????
All you can do is try. It's probably not easy for him, either.
But really - Doesn't feel like chewing? Goodness.
Ack. My DH is having major guts surgery in less than a month and I strongly suspect that he's going to behave exactly like yours does. Why? because men are children. Spoiled, horrible, annoyingly cute children.
My husband is a Gluten-ite, or, as Dr.'s refer to it, he has Celiac Disease. That means he can't have ANY gluten--wheat, oat, rye, barley, etc. Do you know how many foods use gluten fillers and pains I go to in order to avoid them? I have to give the man a beat down regularly to remind him how lucky his ass is to have me!
