Random stuff, in no particular order about no particular subject(s) whatever.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

...oh, and don't be fooled. I often ramble here several times a day. Really, I know I should be doing something else - but don't TELL.

hee hee

Okay, so three posts on Friday must've plum wore me out. ;-)

And I know I've been garnering a reputation for posting like a meth dog, (or whatever that phrase is); but really, I've been trying to work on this moderation thing and also trying to be "in the present" with my own life. Sorry for all of you who have been checking in all weekend, only to find that shockingly I did not update - yes, I can see you.

So, I don't think I did anything exciting; but I did manage to take Number One Son to football and hockey Friday night, take him to a 6:30 AM football practice on Saturday (yes, I know, too damn early for the weekend, especially since I did the Friday night pick-up as well - but I was nice and let DH sleep in), finally sign DD up for soccer, pick more nits, cook a spectacularly bad dinner on Saturday, do a kick-ass children's sermon at church today and engage in appropriate witty small talk at a church board reception for the new music directors this evening.

Okay, well, maybe the sermon wasn't kick-ass, but I think I did pretty good. Sorry, Lorrie, I did not mention Hell.

I'm trying to conjure up warm-fuzzy feelings about church amongst these young souls; so instead, I stuck to the theme of school supplies, and how they feel about starting school and the support they receive, and doing well in school, blah, blah, blah and how the Bible is a source of support and encouragement (along with parents and teachers) and gave them stickers and a 2 Bible verses to carry with them.

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

and

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

It was a little more involved than that, but you get the general idea. Then we did a "Blessing of the Backpacks" to send them on their way.

Oh, and then we went to the Fellowship Hall after church and had ice cream sundaes (yay!) and my DD helped lead songs. I was very proud of her.

Oh, and I ate BEAR.
Yes I did.
Not a lot, but I tasted it. And I didn't even gag. But it was really hard to get past the "but-it's-not-beef" thoughts. :::shudder:::

Update: I checked. It was a black bear. Female. Shot somewhere up in Canada.

I didn't know bear was an entree option..... I don't know that I've ever heard of folks eating bear, I mean. What kind of bear? Brown? Black? Grizzly? What did it taste like? You know how they say everything odd/exotic tastes like chicken, well, does bear? I'd imagine not......... Inquiring minds want DETAILS! :D

My husband ate bear once. He liked it. I personally cannot get past the "it's not beef" thinking.

Sounds like a great children's sermon. Did you have the bear with the ice cream sundaes?

Sorry, I did check in a lot over the weekend. I have a cold and felt crappy most of the weekend so I hung out on line a lot.

What an ego you have. Did you forget that your hysterical quote box changes every half hour? :-D

Want more bear? Come get the one that's hanging around my house. I haven't seen him yet, but everyone keeps calling and emailing me, telling me "He just went down the street!"

I always miss all the fun.

I have such a problem with food and textures... I don't think I could do bear. ::shivers::

Next thing you'll be eatin' rattlesnake! Ick. I can't eat things that are too cute (like, um, puppies.) or too scary (like bugs and snakes). I'm pretty sure that says something about my personality, but I don't know what.
