I think number one son is too, although he's feeling wounded and sad that he won't ever have a 13th birthday again.
It didn't help that I tried to tell him that there are many, many more great birthdays ahead. Or that we could celebrate his birth and how happy we were that he made us parents on another, happier day.
He didn't get his phone yet. And I'm hoping that we can maybe have cake for breakfast. And the lobster and movies have been postponed until Saturday. (hopefully)
I can't really go into details right now, because the ugliness and heartbreak are too fresh. I'll just say that Number One Son was put out that he didn't get "the-only-thing-he-asked-for" and made some big mistakes in expressing his frustration and disappointment. I was upset and frustrated and Darling Husband made this night "a-lesson-to-remember". Ugh. Sometimes I wish we were more in synch in our approach.
I did run tonight. Or "wog" as I've been calling it. And Number One Son came with me. And then Darling Daughter caught up to us and was running in her flip flops! Snot. :-)
Enjoy the night.
Oh, there I am.
